The thing is Diablo 2 was never balanced trading.
THE INEVITABLY FORBIDDEN GAME SERIES
To this day Chris Wilson keeps refering to the Diablo series and saying he himself plays SSF and not trading league. POE is supposed to be what Diablo 3 should have been. I have heard it all during the almost ten years I've had a POE account. This is how I view the ARPG genre being a SSF enthusiast myself.Īnd don't get me started on what GGG/Chris Wilson have stated in the past about the theme.
THE INEVITABLY FORBIDDEN GAME HOW TO
If you buy things you have no idea on how to acquire by playing yourself - by killing monster with the character you envisioned -, you are bad at the game. I'm sorry, but an ARPG game should be balanced aroung getting items and power by killing mosters, not trading. The "game is balanced around trading" chant is so irritating. Why should spending hours in your base trading for items be considered as "playing" an ARPG game? Why no auction house? Why no ban on bots? Why is all the trade interface so clumsy, bad and prone to abuse? If the game is balanced around trading, why does GGG make so much effort to make it unpleasant? It is one of the very few things that I would consider trade league only at this point and I hope this is not the direction that PoE is going in the future. they make them even more impossible to use for SSF by reducing the odds of getting a pair. From what I counted there is about 135 different rolls (without the newly added ones) meaning that if you find a forbidden flame (which are already rare drops) you have 1/135 or 0.74% to get matching pair if you drop a forbidden flesh.įor those reasons, I found the announcements and teasers around those new jewels very lackluster. The reason being the chances of finding a pair in a 3 months span is practically impossible. Then there are Forbidden Flesh and Flame with a 0% use in SSF. Then there are the stackable items which will take a long time to farm, but still doable: Forbidden Shako (although Sacred Grove is a myth) Watcher's eye -> 12% of players on the SSFSC ladder Then there are some that come with a lot of randomness in their rolls, those will most likely not fit your build, but you could start a new char around them: Headhunter -> 3% of players on the SSFSC ladder Mageblood -> 3% of players on the SSFSC ladder There are multiple type of chase items in PoE

I really like what GGG has done with the new end game and I think SSF is in one of the best spot right now so take this as lightweight criticism from a SSF player.
